{"id":392478,"date":"2023-09-04T07:29:32","date_gmt":"2023-09-04T05:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ingmark.com\/corp\/2023\/09\/04\/gdes-embarks-on-a-new-decommissioning-project-in-italy\/"},"modified":"2026-05-12T15:20:33","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T13:20:33","slug":"gdes-embarks-on-a-new-decommissioning-project-in-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ingmark.com\/corp\/en\/2023\/09\/04\/gdes-embarks-on-a-new-decommissioning-project-in-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"GDES embarks on a new decommissioning project in Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Our company has been engaged by Sogin to <strong>dismantle the steam generators<\/strong> at the Latina nuclear power plant.<\/h4>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The iconic steam generators of the Latina nuclear power plant (GCR-Magnox, 210 MW) in Lazio, Italy, will be dismantled by the GDES decommissioning team following a contract recently awarded by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sogin.it\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sogin<\/a>, the state-owned company responsible for the decommissioning of nuclear power plants and the management of radioactive waste in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>Each steam generator in Latina\u2019s primary circuit weighs 600 tonnes, with a height of 24 metres and an external diameter of 5.7 metres. The project awarded to a group of companies led by GDES includes the design, preliminary works, containment, cutting and disposal of the materials. <\/p>\n<p>A complex project with an estimated duration of 3 years that will begin in the last quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second major decommissioning project to be carried out by the <strong>GDES<\/strong> group of companies in Italy, following work on the treatment of pool water and the <a href=\"https:\/\/ingmark.com\/corp\/es\/blog\/2013\/03\/11\/grupo-dominguis-gana-su-primera-licitacion-publica-para-desmantelamiento-nuclear-en-italia-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dismantling of equipment<\/a> and components of the RTS-1 \u201cG.Galilei\u201d research reactor.
