Intervention carried out on the heat exchangers of the GSS system belonging to the MSR.
GSS: group of exchangers (moisture separator reheater)) in EDF power plant type 13000 MW and 900 MW.

- BUGEY: 12 GSS (2010-2011)
- GRAVELINES: 4 GSS (2019)
Problem to solve:
Magnetite (oxide ferrous ferric) accumulation supposes an increase of pressure drop and a reduction of thermal conductivity, therefore a loss of the heat exchangers performance.
Solution to the problem:
We developed a cleaning procedure, specific for these exchangers that has been officially approved by EDF and successfully applied with the following results:
- Magnetite removal
- Obstruction Reduction (ΔP)
- Increased heat exchange capacity.
