GDES, as a subcontractor of Uniper Anlagenservice (UAS) performs the following decommissioning services at the Barsebäck and Oskarshamn nuclear power plants (Sweden):
- Installation, start-up and operation of the handling and cutting equipment designed by Uniper for the project.
- Segmentation of drywell heads and vessel heads.
- Post segmentation of vessel sections from in situ segmentation.
- Dismantling of the service platform and the refuelling machine in the reactor hall.
- Cutting and dismantling of the inlet/outlet lines of the hydraulic control rod drive housings (CRDH) and of
the NFD piping. - Conditioning of radioactive waste.
Project status: First vessel completed in 2021.
The technological “heart” of the project is the robot that perform remote-controlled, dry thermal cutting of the four vessels.
The dismantling strategy is based on a combination of manual mechanical/thermal cutting (especially for parts with low
radioactivity) and robotic cutting (in the case of more significant radiological risk).
