GDES nuclear services carry out the preventive chemical cleaning operation in the PWR steam generators.
Aim of this project was to formulate and develop a chemical cleaning procedure that significantly reduces the obstruction level generated by the presence of magnetite in the PWR steam generators.
- Qualification: 2010 – 2013
- First intervention: CNPE Dampierre 1 (2013)
- Last intervention: CNPE Dampierre 2 (2016)
Chemical cleaning procedure developed by GDES. IT is intended to dissolve at least 200 kg of deposits by steam generator with the objective of 500 kg and with a maximum corrosion of 100 μm over carbon steel.
PACCO procedure is a preventive chemical cleaning process that consists of two stages:
- Partial magnetite deposits removal at low temperature (between 30-40ºC) by combination of weak organic acids and Nitrogen sparging.
- Elimination of metallic copper (initially present in the deposits or resulting from copper-plating phenomenon occurred during the acid phase).
