Intervention performed on the heat exchangers of the GSS (MSR) system.
GSS: group of exchangers (moisture separators/reheaters)
in EDF power plant of type 13,000 MW and 900 MW.
Operational Experience:
- FESSENHEIM: 2 GSS (TTS) 2009 – 2011 (Cpo)
- BUGEY: 12 GSS (2010-2011)
- GRAVELINES: 4 GSS (2019)
Problem to be solved:
These exchangers have magnetite accumulation problems
(ferrous ferric oxide), which implies an increase in the pressure drop
and a reduction in thermal conductivity and, therefore, a loss of heat exchange capacity.
Solution to the problem:
We have developed a specific cleaning procedure for these exchangers that has been approved by EDF and successfully applied with the following results:
- Magnetite removal.
- Reduction of obstructions (ΔP)
- Increased heat exchange capacity.
